General maintenance

Keep your eBike clean, lubricated, correctly inflated and properly adjusted. Check it regularly and after riding in wet, dusty or muddy conditions.

• Cleaning: Switch off the electrical system and remove the battery if the model allows it. Clean the bike with a soft cloth or sponge, mild soap and water. Do not use a pressure washer, steam cleaner, abrasive product or corrosive solvent. Do not direct compressed air at bearings, seals or electrical connectors.
• Tyres: Check the tread and sidewalls for cuts, cracks, excessive wear and embedded objects. Inflate both tyres within the pressure range printed on their sidewalls.
• Brakes: Make sure the brake levers feel firm and the brakes respond immediately. Check the brake pads and disc rotors for wear, damage or contamination. The pads should not rub continuously against the rotors. If braking performance is poor, do not ride the bike until it has been checked.
• Cables and hoses: Check for kinks, chafing, cracks and excessive tension, especially around the handlebar, frame joints and folding areas.
• Transmission: Keep the chain clean and lubricated with a bicycle-chain lubricant. Wipe away excess lubricant and keep it away from the brake pads and disc rotors.
• Fasteners: Regularly check the wheels, pedals, crank arms, saddle, seatpost, stem, handlebar, mudguards and rear rack. Tighten fasteners only to the torque specified for the component.
• Bearings: The headset, bottom bracket and wheel hubs should turn smoothly without play. Bearing adjustment and servicing should be carried out by a qualified bicycle mechanic.
• Load: Do not carry passengers unless the bicycle and fitted accessory are specifically approved for that purpose. Never exceed the load limit stated on the rear rack or in the manual. Some Legend rear racks have a maximum load of 27 kg, but the limit may vary by model.

Battery maintenance

Legend eBikes use lithium-ion batteries. Use only the compatible charger supplied or approved by Legend eBikes.

• Charge the battery in a dry, ventilated area, away from flammable materials and direct sunlight.
• Do not charge a damaged, wet, unusually hot or frozen battery.
• You do not need to discharge the battery completely before recharging it. Partial charges are acceptable.
• For long-term storage, keep the battery in a cool, dry place at approximately 40–60% charge. Do not store it fully discharged.
• Check the charge approximately every two months and recharge it if necessary.
• Avoid prolonged storage below 0 °C or above 50 °C. Let the battery return to room temperature before charging.
• Do not open, modify, immerse or pressure-wash the battery.

Motor maintenance

The sealed brushless motor does not require routine internal maintenance. To reduce unnecessary strain:

• Use an appropriate mechanical gear and continue pedalling so the motor does not provide all the effort.
• Do not hold the bike stationary with motor power or continue applying assistance if the wheel cannot turn.
• Reduce the load or assistance level if the motor or electrical system becomes unusually hot.
• Do not immerse the motor or ride through water deep enough to cover the motor or controller.

Electrical system

The controller location depends on the model. Protect the controller, wiring, remote and connectors from impacts, immersion and unauthorised modification.

If water enters an electrical component, switch off the system and remove the battery if it is safe to do so. Do not switch the system on again until the bike has dried completely and has been inspected if necessary.

Do not open or modify the controller. Damage caused by unauthorised work may not be covered by the warranty. Ask your Legend eBikes dealer or after-sales service for assistance.

Use the schedule below as a general guide. Maintenance intervals depend on distance, load, weather, terrain and riding conditions. Arrange an earlier inspection if you notice looseness, unusual noise, reduced braking or irregular operation.

There is no single correct pressure for every rider and surface. Always keep the pressure within the minimum and maximum values printed on the tyre sidewall. If the rim has a lower maximum pressure, follow the lower limit.

Many Legend eBike tyres display a range around 2.0 to 4.0 bar, but this is not universal. Check the markings on the tyres fitted to your bike.

Measure the pressure while the tyres are cold and use a pump with a pressure gauge. Rider weight, luggage and terrain affect the best setting within the permitted range.

Check the tyres before every ride and measure their pressure regularly. Never ride below or above the limits printed on the tyre.

The sealed brushless motor fitted to a Legend eBike does not require routine internal maintenance under normal operating conditions.

To protect it and extend its service life:

• Use an appropriate mechanical gear and keep pedalling instead of making the motor provide all the effort.
• Do not apply assistance if the driven wheel is blocked or unable to turn.
• Reduce the load or assistance level if the motor or electrical system becomes unusually hot.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to very heavy rain and do not clean the motor with pressurised water.
• Do not immerse the bike or ride through water deep enough to cover the motor or controller.
• If you notice unusual noise, play, loss of power or an error code, stop using the assistance and contact Legend eBikes after-sales service.

Wear parts are components that gradually deteriorate through normal use. Their service life depends on distance, load, riding conditions and maintenance.

The main wear parts on a Legend eBike include:

• Tyres and inner tubes
• Spokes and spoke nipples
• Wheel hubs, freehub bodies and bearings
• Headset and bottom-bracket bearings and bushes
• Chain, cassette and chainring
• Pedals
• Saddle cover, handlebar grips and handlebar tape
• O-rings, seals and dust seals
• Gear and brake cables and their housings
• Brake pads and disc brake rotors
• Fork and shock absorber seals and bushes
• Lights and lamps
• Fasteners and other rubber or flexible parts exposed to movement

The warranty does not cover deterioration caused by normal wear. A manufacturing defect in a wear part is assessed separately under the applicable warranty conditions.

Corrosion caused by inadequate cleaning, drying, storage or protection is not normal manufacturing wear. Rinse off salt and dirt, dry the bike after cleaning or wet rides, and store it in a dry place.

The lighting system is designed for the original light fitted to each model. A different light may work, but it must be electrically and mechanically compatible.

Before fitting a replacement, confirm the required voltage, connector, polarity and permitted power for your exact bike model. Unless Legend eBikes confirms otherwise, do not use a light rated above 2 W per light. The original lights typically consume approximately 1.2–1.6 W.

• Compatibility: An incorrect voltage, connector or polarity can prevent the light from working or damage the electrical system.
• Battery consumption: A higher-powered light can increase consumption and reduce autonomy.
• Warranty: Using a non-original light does not by itself cancel the whole warranty. However, damage caused by an incompatible light, incorrect installation or modification is not covered.

For reliable operation, use the original replacement or a model approved by Legend eBikes. Contact our after-sales service if you are unsure.
